Paying respects to assassinated former prime minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, many people visited his grave at the Quaid's mausoleum to observe his 65th death anniversary.

The city's deputy mayor, Arshad Vohra, also attended a Quran Khuwani and placed a wreath at the grave of the country's first prime minister, respectfully known as 'Shaheed-e-Millat'.

Khan, a Muslim League leader who was known to be one of Jinnah’s closest aides, was shot dead almost six decades ago while addressing a public meeting in Rawalpindi.  He wanted to shape Pakistan according to the vision of the founder of the country so that it could be ranked among developed nations.  Born in Karnal, East Punjab, Khan was educated at the Aligarh Muslim University in India and later went to study at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Khan was invited by the Indian Congress Party to join his party, but he opted for the Muslim League led by Jinnah.
