Inter part I students protest against poor marking

GUJRANWALA: Hundreds of male and female intermediate part I students on Saturday protested against alleged poor marking of their papers in front of the Education Board Office.

The students of various colleges carrying placards chanted slogans against the board’s administration and said that they were awarded less marks due to poor checking. They demanded the authorities recheck their answer sheets. The father of a student said that the board was charging Rs 1,100 for rechecking of each script and the cost kept many poor parents away from even availing the opportunity of rechecking. The government must waive off this fee or bring it to minimum level so that many parents could help their children verify their concerns, he added. Later, on the assurance of the board officers that action would be taken on their demand, the students dispersed.

‘E-KHIDMAT CENTRES TO PROVIDE QUICK SERVICES’: The E-Khidmat Centres will become an effective tool to provide quick, transparent and efficient services to the citizens.

It was stated by Punjab IT Board Chairman Dr Umar Saif during soft launch of the Citizen Facilitation Center at Shaheenabad on Saturday. Commissioner Muhammad Asif, RPO M Tahir, DCO Amir Jan, CPO Waqas Nazeer, DG (E Governance) of PITB Sajid Latif, Director Facilitation Waseem Bhatti and others were also present. Dr Saif thanked the district government for extending full cooperation to complete the CFC in a short time period. He said that the CFC would provide a number of different public services, such as domicile certificate, marriage and divorce certificates, birth and death certificates, learners’ driving licence, rout permit and Fard of land under one roof through automatic computerised process. The ticket system would abolish hurdles like bribe and favoritism and make the services prompt and transparent, he added. The commissioner lauded the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for transforming all government businesses on modern technology. He said that the CFC would enhance efficiency of government employees by decreasing load of work on the government departments.

PRE-ARREST BAIL EXTENDED: Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Waseem Afzal on Saturday extended pre-arrest bail of former security incharge of Nandipur Power Plant in record tearing case till Oct 24. The court extended pre-arrest bail of Mehtab Alam.
