KARACHI: Pakistan’s former captain Javed Miandad said on Sunday that Shahid Afridi’s remarks about him at a book-launching ceremony were rubbish.

“I would call whatever Afridi has spoken rubbish,” Miandad told a TV channel on Sunday.

Miandad had criticised Afridi for coercing Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include him in a T20 squad for an international game as farewell. Miandad had said that Afridi was forcing PCB to let him play a farewell game so that he could earn some money from that.

“All Miandad is concerned about is money,” Afridi responded when asked by a reporter to comment on Miandad’s statement. “That is the difference between Miandad and Imran Khan,” he added.

Afridi said that he was not thinking about a farewell game and would continue to play first-class cricket and T20s.

Miandad also said that Afridi should admit that he was no longer a superstar. He also said that Afridi had been an irresponsible batsman and captain.
