ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has demanded a response from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to what he alleged was the use of state machinery in the local bodies (LB) elections as he said the rulers were doing politics for personal gains.
He alleged that democracy was murdered during the 2013 elections, a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan. He was talking to a party delegation from Chiniot. He alleged that all the state institutions were working to please the Sharif brothers and fundamental rights of the masses were being overstepped.
He said the LB polls were being conducted on the orders of the Supreme Court, alleging that the polls had been rigged in a big way. He alleged that the ECP and other state departments ‘obeyed’ Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during the LB polls.
He said PTI candidates were also discriminated against in other provinces during the polls. He said he respected the media and acknowledged their sacrifices but regretted that they tried to make him controversial at some points. He advised the delegations to do all to win the LB polls on November 19. He demanded the Punjab authorities to arrest the killers of his party workers.
