Two more dengue cases detected in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two more dengue cases were detected here on Thursday. The patients are Abdul Mannan of Sigal City and Muhammad Asif of Nalk Kohala. They were shifted to an Isolation Ward of the Allied Hospital. Earlier, two cases of dengue were detected on Wednesday.

Dacoit killed in encounter

GUJRANWALA: A dacoit was killed in an alleged encounter with Jinnah Road police near Green Valley Housing Scheme on Wednesday night. The police had arrested Abuzar in various dacoity and robbery cases. A police party was taking him for recovery when his accomplice opened fire on them to get him released. The police also retaliated. As a result, Abuzar was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape. On Thursday, the police handed over the body of Abuzar to his family after completing legal formalities.

 

Robbers dressed in forces’ uniforms loot two houses

CHARSADDA: More than 12 robbers, dressed in security forces’ uniforms, forced entry into the houses of two brothers and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables in Hussainabad on Thursday night, official sources said.

They said the robbers entered the house of Shamshad late in the night, took his family members hostage at gunpoint and decamped with Rs900, 000, six tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables.  The sources said the robbers then entered the house of one Arshad and deprived the family of Rs 300,000 and three tolas of gold ornaments. The sources added Arshad sustained serious injuries in a scuffle with the robbers.

 

19 district specialists appointed in KP

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on the recommendations of the Public Service Commission has appointed 19 doctors of different specialties as District Specialists (BS-18) on regular basis in Health Department.A handout said on Friday the newly appointed doctors included four pediatricians namely Dr Fazal Rabbani, Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Sher Shah, Dr Muhammad Salahuddin; seven surgeons Dr Arshad Ali, Dr Mujeebur Rehman, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad, Dr Niaz-ud-Din, Dr Tallat Shahzad, Dr Ziaur Rehman; three pathologists Dr Fazal Hanan, Dr Ihsanullah, Dr Haroon Rashid; two ENT specialists Dr Akhtar Zaman and Dr Arifullah; one orthopedic surgeon Dr Syed Danish Mehmood; and two other specialists Dr Muhammad Khalid and Dr Rafaqat Malik.

 

Maid commits suicide in school

LAHORE: A mother of five committed suicide by hanging herself with a fan in a room of school in the South Cantt police area on Friday. The woman was identified as Kiran, the wife of Abid Hussain, a resident of Manawala, Bedian Raod. She was a maid in the school. She was found dead in a room after school closing hours.

 

Man kills infant daughter over domestic row

PAKPATTAN: A man killed his six-month-old daughter over a domestic dispute at Chak 77/EB on Thursday. Perveen Bibi with her daughter had come to the house of her parents after a dispute with her husband Muhammad Arshad. On the day of the incident, Arshad came to the house of his in-laws to take his wife back, but a dispute again arose between the couple. In a fit of frustration, Arshad snatched his daughter from Perveen and allegedly threw her on the floor. As a result, she was injured seriously. She was shifted to the Sahiwal DHQ Hospital where she died. Police have registered a murder case and started investigation.

 

Woman abducted, raped

PAKPATTAN: A woman was kidnapped and raped here. Five people, including Iftikhar alias Khawar, allegedly abducted a woman (S) with her children three months ago. The accused shifted the woman to some place where Iftikhar allegedly raped her. Later, the accused returned the woman with her children on the order of a Panchayat. Police have registered a case.

 

Life-attempt on doctor condemned

ABBOTTABAD: The People’s Doctors Forum (PDF) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has condemned the life-attempt on Professor Dr Asmatullah and demanded immediate inquiry into the incident. Spokesman for PDF Dr Daud Iqbal said entire KP doctors community had been shocked at learning about the attack on Dr Asmatullah. He asked the provincial government to hold a high-level probe into matter apart from taking steps for the security of the medical community.
