‘Private schools must ensure safety of students’

While taking notice of the death of a 12-year-old student who drowned in an underground water tank in a private school, the Sindh minister for education and literacy on Saturday directed the director general of the private institutions to submit a report in this regard and ensure safety measures in all the private schools so that no such tragic incident would occur again.

Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar also asked the owners and heads of the educational institutions to take appropriate steps to save the lives of the students. He also warned them in case of not complying with the order, strict action would be taken against them and the cancellation of their school registration could also be cancelled.

On Friday, a fourth class student had drowned in a well constructed on his school’s premises located in North Nazimabad. Shahrah-e-Noorjehan police said the body of Uzair, son of Saleem, was recovered from a well constructed on the premises of St Jude’s School, located near the intermediate board office situated in D’Silva Town.
