On a visit to assess civic and municipal conditions in Lyari, daughters of slain Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former President Asif Ali Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, were accorded a generous welcome by the locality’s residents on Friday evening.
During the visit to the politically vibrant locality known for its unbridled support to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Aseefa while addressing the residents claimed that resolving Lyari’s municipal and other issues was the preference of the Sindh government.
She promised to launch a cleanliness campaign in the area, otherwise littered with trash, while also assuring them of launching a province-wide sanitation drive.
Aseefa assured the residents of getting the concerned provincial authorities involved in getting the locality cleaned at the earliest.
It was precisely due to this sanitation drive that Aseefa said she had come to Lyari.
Responding to slogans of the charged residents, Aseefa in a reference to the Bhutto family’s political struggle observed that Lyari was the fortress of the Bhutto family and the PPP.
Bakhtawar, Aseefa and local government minister, Jam Khan Shoro, later visited the Quaid-e-Azam’s birthplace located in the vicinity.
