ISLAMABAD: The United Nations and the United States on Thursday called upon India and Pakistan to show patience and restraint amid the rising tension as New Delhi continued to hurl threats at Islamabad over the Uri attack and tension in the Indian-Held Kashmir. The United Nations urged India and Pakistan to exercise restraint.

“The United Nations calls on the government of India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and encourage them to continue their efforts to resolve their differences peacefully and through dialogue,” said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State John Kerry called up his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj about what The Economist calls “Indian Army without brain”, and demanded that there should be no escalation in the present situation with Pakistan.

Reports indicated that the US Secretary of State John Kerry had two conversations over the last two days with Sushma Swaraj on this issue, while it was the first time that the US had spoken to the Indian leadership at senior political level after the Uri attack, the sources said.

Meanwhile, US National Security Adviser Susan E Rice spoke with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Thursday and condemned the Uri attack.

According to the statement issued by the White House after the talks, Ambassador Rice strongly condemned the September 18 attack on the Indian Army brigade headquarters in Uri and offered condolences to the victims and their families.

Ambassador Rice affirmed President Obama’s commitment to redouble the US efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism throughout the world.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism throughout the world. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif held a meeting at PM House and discussed the emerging situation at the Line of Control (LoC).

The prime minister convened the meetings of National Security Council (NSC) of the federal cabinet and joint sitting of Parliament next week one after other to ponder over the Indian aggression and steps being taken by Pakistan to thwart any misadventure.

At the face of Indian aggression which resulted in martyrdom of two Pakistani soldiers and injuries to nine others in the wee hours of Thursday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and in the backdrop of false claims of so-called surgical incursion made by the Indian across the LoC in Kashmir, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while leading from the front vowed that no external force had the capability to challenge the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan. “We have the best armed forces in the world and we are proud of that. Above all, the entire nation is standing behind our valiant armed forces,” said the prime minister who devoted his day by calling off his other engagements concentrating on the situation emerging at LoC and aggressive posture of the Indian establishment.
