‘Tourism Day’ is celebrated on September 27 across the world. Tourism plays a vital role in contributing to the economy. In order to improve travel and tourism in the country, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) needs to work hard in maintaining and developing the tourist spots. In addition to scenic beauties Pakistan has a rich historical background which can attract a large number of tourists. The PTDC should coordinate with the chief ministers of all provinces to develop facilities for tourists. A safe and secure means of transportation in the rough terrains should be developed. The PTDC must ensure the availability of hygienic food and a well-versed guide, familiar with few foreign languages, is also required to interact comfortably with the foreign tourists. A video montage or documentary should be made to show the historical places of the country in order to promote tourism.
In 2014, Pakistan’s travel & tourism’s total contribution to the GDP was $17.2 billion. If the concerned departments contribute significantly for promotion of tourisms then the country has the potential of increasing earnings from tourism.
