Various segments of the society especially students have lauded the decision to allow the general public  to visit 'Gali-e-Dastoor', a dedicated lane on the first floor of the Parliament House Building narrating the story of Pakistan’s Constitutional history.

"I have heard about establishment of ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ in the Parliament House and now I feel happy that anyone from across the country can visit the Senate and have a guided tour of the gallery and the courtyard," said Andaleeb Abbas, a student of Quaid-e-Azam University.

According to the website of the Senate, the establishment of ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ is an attempt to give an opportunity to the people of Pakistan to relive this important yet most neglected part of the Pakistani history. This ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ is a tribute to the many sacrifices of the men and women of Pakistan for democratic struggle and constitutional supremacy.

The students from schools, colleges and universities have been encouraged to come and visit the ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ to understand and experience their nation’s history.

It is a pictorial story with comprehensive captions. Other than the mural of the ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’, there is a fountain in the courtyard, which represents true essence of federation and the Pakistani people. An introductory video about the ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ also constitutes part of the guided tour.

The Senate secretariat invites application through email, post, telephones and an online registration form on the Senate website to book the free guided tour of the path of the Constitution.

Qasim Bhatti, a teacher of political science, said the ‘Gali-e-Dastoor’ is a thematic and symbolic representation of the chronology since 1947 about Constitution making and positive and negative developments in the process.
