Police ask educational institutions to enhance security

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police authorities have directed the management of private educational institutions to enhance security in the wake of threats of terrorist attacks.
A meeting held at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat and attended by senior cops and owners and heads of private and public sector schools, colleges and universities.
An official of the Capital City Police said the school owners were asked to raise boundary walls of their institutions and hire trained and armed security guards and provide them explosive detectors.
He said the owners were directed to keep a check on any suspicious movement. The school management was asked to install proper lighting system at night and also CCTV cameras and an alarm system to alert the police in case of an emergency.
SSP Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat urged the principals of the educational institutions to give priority to the security of the children.
