Hiking event organised on World Heart Day

If one has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking habit with low or minimal physical activity and excessive salt intake, he or she is on high risk and, therefore, he or she must modify lifestyle and dietary habits to avoid serious cardiovascular complications.

This was stated by Consultant Cardiologist at Shifa International Hospital (SIH) Dr. Asad Ali Saleem, while addressing to participants of Hiking organised by Shifa International Hospital on capital’s famous Trail 5 in connection with World Heart Day, highlighting this year’s theme ‘Power Your Life’.

A large number of doctors, Shifa employees, citizens and their families and university students participated in the event. The participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with encouraging slogans for heart patients and awareness quotes.

Sanaullah Aman, Member Environment & Executive Director General, CDA stressed that we should seriously think about what we can do to keep ourselves and our family safe, healthy and well. Each and every one of us are the most valuable resource of this our beloved country.

He said that Public awareness is very important for timely diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. Addressing on the occasion, Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Saeedullah Shah said that the objective behind arranging a hiking trip was to educate people about cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and its prevention and control.
