LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said the PTI wants a purely transparent system of accountability in the country where everyone must have the right to know about the assets of Pakistani leadership.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday where a group of PML-N Lahore activists led by Bilal Gujjar announced joining the PTI, Imran said every PTI worker had the right to put up questions about his (Imran’s) wealth. But, on the other hand, he said none could even think of raising such a question before the Sharifs in their party.
Imran said the PML-N remained in power for a long time, but rather than serving the country, its leadership made assets on foreign lands. He said the PTI would always support the rule of merit and all sincere workers would be given opportunity to flourish in the party.
Meanwhile, Punjab PTI organiser Chaudhry Sarwar demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualify the rulers for announcing the Kissan Package in violation of the election code of conduct. He said the rulers’ poll rigging plans would be foiled.
Talking to PTI Senator Azam Khan Swati who called on him at his residence on Thursday, Sarwar said the masses had decided that the incumbent rulers should be ousted from politics and the PML-N would face a humiliating defeat in the NA-122 by-election. He said the PTI was united under the leadership of Imran Khan and party’s every worker was ready to sacrifice anything for the rights of the masses.
He said nobody was above the law and the rulers must be held accountable for violating the election code of conduct. He said the ECP should also stop conniving with the government.
He said Imran’s arrival in Lahore paved the way for the PML-N defeat and added that people had announced their support for the PTI.
He said the rulers had disappointed people and the PTI was the only hope for them.
