MIRANSHAH: Military authorities said on Thursday fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had pounded sanctuaries of militants in North Waziristan near the Afghan border, killing 30 militants.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the jets targeted militants’ positions in Lowara Mandi and Lataka areas of Dattakhel subdivision in North Waziristan.
The ISPR, however, didn’t provide further details about the identity and nationality of the slain militants.
Dattakhel is a remote mountainous subdivision of North Waziristan where local and foreign militants are believed to have been hiding and staging attacks against security forces and government installations.
Security forces had cleared most of the residential areas such as Miranshah and Mir Ali of the militants during the military operation Zarb-e-Azb launched on June 15, 2014 in North Waziristan.
