180 students rushed to hospitals after suffering from food poisoning

PESHAWAR: Over 180 students of the Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College in Swabi were rushed to hospitals in Swabi and Mardan after they suffered severe food poisoning on Sunday night.

“We have rushed ambulances from Peshawar and Mardan. Well over 180 students have been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital , Mardan Medical Complex and other health facilities,” Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the spokesman for the Rescue 1122 told The News. The official said some of the students were unconscious and are being treated.

The provincial Health Minister Shahram Tarakai told media that teams of doctors have been rushed to the college while all the emergency arrangements were made at hospitals in Mardan and Swabi. He said around 300 student suffered food poisoning and 180 of them were being provided emergency treatment.

The officials of the Health Department told The News that ambulances on hearing of food poisoning rushed from Swabi, Mardan & Noswhera. The official said 30 students have been shifted to CMH, 70 to MMC, 4 doctors of Health Dept are at college treating the remaining 10 to 15 students.

“ All the victims at the MMC and other hospitals are stable. One medicine store with fluids also moved from Nowshera and reached there, but, Hopefully, it won’t b required,” said the official.Some reports said over 300 students suffered. However, the officials didn’t confirm it.
