Senior cop Khurshid Alam Khan laid to rest

NOWSHERA: Former Additional Inspector General of Police Khurshid Alam Khan was laid to rest in Badrashi village on Wednesday after a largely attended funeral.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq led his Nimaz-i-Janaza. Lawmakers, politicians, government officials, notables of the area and a large number of local people attended the funeral held at his ancestral graveyard.

Provincial minister Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, ANP leaders Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Masood Abbas and provincial lawmakers Bakht Baidar and Mian Khaliquz Zaman were prominent among those who attended the funeral. 

His Qul would be held at the residence of Usman Khan in Badrashi village in Nowshera district on Friday.

Khurshid Alam died of cardiac arrest at the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar on Tuesday. He was playing tennis at the Police Lines Peshawar when he felt chest pain and had to be rushed to the hospital where he breathed his last.

The deceased had served on different positions, including a stint as IGP Gilgit-Baltistan, Additional IGP Headquarters, and as the first Capital City Police Officer in Peshawar.
