Mamnoon seeks world attention towards Indian brutalities on Kashmiris
Urges AJK to ensure facilities to people
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday underscored the need for proactive diplomacy to draw attention of the world towards gross human rights violations and atrocities being committed by Indian security forces against Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir.
The president said this while talking to Special Assistant to the prime minister on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi here at the Aiwan-i-Sadr. He called for actively pursuing Kashmir cause at various international forums and expressing Pakistan’s concern about the alarming situation in held Kashmir in the backdrop of extrajudicial killings by Indian forces.
Mamnoon hoped the parliamentarians recently appointed as special envoys would effectively highlight the brutalities in the occupied Kashmir and would garner international support for the right to self-determination of Kashmiris in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. Fatemi briefed the president about international issues with particular reference to the regional situation.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Tuesday urged upon Azad Jammu and Kashmir government to focus on providing all facilities to people and improve their living standard. Talking to AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider here at Aiwan-i-Sadr, the president emphasized on ensuring good governance in carrying out all development projects and their timely completion.
Mamnoon reiterated Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, political and moral support to oppressed Kashmiris in their struggle against foreign occupation. Condemning the ongoing Indian brutalities in the held Kashmir, the president said Pakistan would continue to use diplomatic channel to draw attention of international community towards grave human rights violations by Indian security forces.
He stressed peace would remain elusive in the region unless the decades old issue of Kashmir was resolved. The president congratulated Raja on his election as prime minister of AJK and hoped that under his sagacious leadership the newly elected public representatives would work with dedication for the well-being of the people.
He expressed satisfaction at successful holding of recent election in AJK and smooth transition of power to next elected government. The AJK prime minister apprised the president about various development initiatives and expressed commitment to work devotedly for welfare of people of the region.
