PHEC trains over 500 new college teachers

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said given the nature of challenges being faced by the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Punjab, the provincial commission is focusing on capacity building programmes of HEIs.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dr Nizam said PHEC aimed to enhance the standards and quality of research and academia in HEIs. He said Punjab HEC has recently undertaken post-graduate trainings for university and college teachers. “Besides, Punjab HEC has also trained more than 500 newly-inducted college teachers. Currently, training of more than 700 principals of public sector colleges in Punjab is underway”, he added. Dr Nizam stated since its inauguration by the CM, Punjab HEC had achieved many milestones in a short span of time. Instead of relying on the quantity of work, PHEC was committed to focusing its attention on the quality.
workshop: Lahore Transport Company (LTC) conducted a two-day workshop to train the transport enforcement inspectors about their duties and role in society.
During the concluding session of the workshop, Institute of Road Safety and Traffic Environment Chairman Kaiser J Khatana, LTC Chief Executive Officer Khawaja Haider Latif and Institute of Engineering Pakistan Director General Administration Muhammad Ashraf enlightened the transport enforcement inspectors about their duties and role in society.
maternal mortality: Punjab Primary & Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan has said concrete steps are being taken for disease prevention programme and to reduce maternal mortality rate in Punjab. He said special attention is being paid to the issue of malnutrition and stunting in children.
He expressed these views while talking to the World Bank Mission headed by Dr Inam, who called on him in his office, according to a handout issued on Tuesday. Health Director General Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Additional Director General Integrated Reproductive, Mother, Newborn and Child Health (IRMNCH) Programme Dr Nusrat Jabeen, Dr Akhtar Rasheed Malik and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
