Islamabad: The Capital Administration and Development Division has clipped the wings of the Federal Directorate of Education director general by subjecting the major postings and transfers at the FDE to its approval.
The development comes in light of tensions at the FDE over alleged tussle between FDE DG Dr Shahnaz Anjum Riaz and director (administration and coordination) Major (r) Abdul Waheed Khan over administrative affairs.
The two allegedly had heated exchanges of late, prompting Dr Shahnaz to serve a show cause notice on Major (r) Abdul Waheed to explain position for illegally calling a meeting on departmental promotions, and indiscipline. In reaction, Major (r) Abdul Waheed wrote to the CADD accusing Dr Shahnaz of dereliction of duty and mismanagement.
Thereafter, the FDE DG withdrew the additional responsibility of the director (admin) from Major (r) Abdul Waheed and asked him to continue working as deputy director in the monitoring cell only.
In the latest development, the CADD, which has the administrative control of the FDE, has issued an office order saying the postings and transfers of all officers in BPS-17 and above under the directorate and allied institutions will henceforth be made with its (CADD) approval.
The order issued in line with State Minister for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry’s directions added, “all orders conveying the postings and transfers of officers in BPS-17 and above within FDE Headquarters during the last one month from the issuance of this order are hereby declared void ab initio.”
