MANSEHRA: The district council has approved the Police Ordinance 2016 with a thumping majority, bringing the local police under its domain.
“With approval of this ordinance, now the police are bound under the law to present its performance report about the law and order before the council twice a year,” stated District Police Officer Ihsan Saifullah while briefing the council after approval of the ordinance on Wednesday.
Participants of the session, chaired by convener Murtaza Tanoli, approved ordinance by raising their hands. None of the councillors opposed the ordinance. The district police office said that from now on, the police would be more professional and accurate in achieving targets to curb crime and promote good policing with the help of LG representatives.
He asked the council to raise voice for the department, which according to him faces shortage of human resource, equipment/arms, logistic, vehicles and buildings. District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam and Deputy Commission Iqbal Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
