NCSW sets up research cell for strategy to combat social problems

National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) has established a research cell for developing strategy to combat social problems and issues.

The information was shared at a seminar titled ‘Social Impacts of Drug Addiction and its Prevention: Problems and Prospects,’ organised by NCSW on Wednesday. Chairman, National Council of Social Welfare Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik chaired the seminar while Special Secretary, Ministry of Interior Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was the chief guest on the occasion. Representatives of civil social, NGOs, students, journalists and intellectuals, officials of different departments of CADD, and other stakeholders attended the seminar.

The speakers were of the opinion that positive activities for youth can play a vital role in making them a useful citizen. It was shared that the newly established research centre in NCSW is run by the youth interns from National Internship Programme.

Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik in his remarks deliberated that the increasing menace of drug addiction in the society has inflicted negative social influences. “Drug abuse is eroding the foundations of our society. All the segments of the society have to own responsibility to carryout practical measures for eradication of drug addiction and abuse. We need to save our youth from this snag,” he said.

Dr. Nadeem Shafiq, further emphasised that youth is Pakistan’s most precious asset and utilisation of their energies in positive and health activates is imperative for the swift social development of the country.
