Martial artists from Landikotal selected for S Korea event
LANDIKOTAL: A martial artist from Khyber Agency and a karate official have been selected in the Pakistani team for participation in the 16th Asian Full Contact Karate Tournament scheduled to begin in South Korea from September 1.
Pakistan Full Contact KarateFederation President Muhammad Arshad Jan told The News that they had organised a training camp in Peshawar where they selected Ghani Khan Shinwari, resident of Landikotal, who will play as Pakistan’s Karate player.
Jan said Farhad Shinwari, a former Asian Karate champion, also qualified as Karate official. Arshad Jan said it was a matter of pride for the whole Fata and this would portray a soft image of the region in such an international event.
Martial art coach Farhad Shinwari said that Ghani Khan Shinwari would play in the 80+weight category in Bosan Korea International Tournament. He added that they believed that Ghani Khan would bring gold medal for Pakistan.
Farhad appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, Khyber Agency political agent and Directorate of Sports Fata to provide financial assistance to the selected player and coaches so that they could ensure participation in international events.
