Ulema condemn killing of religious scholar
PESHAWAR: The All Sects Ulema Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has condemned the target killing of Maulana Ghulam Hazrat and asked the government to bring the accused to justice.
Speaking at a press conference here, Dr Qibla Ayaz, Allama Ihsanullah Junedi, Maqsood Ahmad Salafi, Maulana Tahmeed Jan, Ihsanullah Mohseni and Zubair Anjum of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Ideological) said the target killing of Maulana Ghulam Hazrat along with his father was a heinous act of terrorism.
They said it was an attempt to trigger sectarian clashes. However, they said ulema from different sects were united and they wanted sectarian and interfaith harmony. The speakers said that terrorism and sectarian clashes were un-Islamic and against humanity and called for unity and tolerance among the Muslims. They asked the government and law enforcement agencies to bring the killers of Maulana Ghulam Hazrat to justice.
The ulema representing Deobandi, Barevli, Ahle Hadith and Shia schools of thought reaffirmed their commitment to root out terrorism and sectarianism from the society. They also asked the followers of Maulana Ghulam Hazrat, who was killed along with his father in Peshawar two days back, to stay calm and avoid any step that could create law and order.
