Officials pledge to facilitate IDPs upon return

GHALLANAI: The officials on Friday vowed to facilitate the returning displaced persons upon return to native town.The assurance was given at a jirga that discussed modalities for bringing back the temporarily displaced persons.

Elders of Musakhel and Esakhel tribes of Baizai Sub-Division, Political Agent Mohmand Agency Mehmood Aslam Wazir, Member National Assembly Bilal Rehman and Assistant Political Agent Pir Abdullah Shah and others attended the gathering. The tribal elders, including Baghi Jan, Malik Sadar Khan, Malik Manjawar Khogakhel, Malik Hazratullah and others, apprised the PA Mohmand Agency and MNA of the problems being faced by the tribesmen on routine basis.

They asked the authorities concerned to resolve the issues including unblocking the blocked Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of the tribesmen and compensation for the affected families.

They said that the tribespeople who had shifted to other parts of the country were reluctant to return to their hometowns and take part in development of the area owing to lack of facilities and other problems.

Member National Assembly Bilal Rehman said that a number of development projects were underway in the tribal region particularly affected areas of Baizai Sub-Division. He asked the political administration to make sure that no innocent person was implicated in false cases of terrorism and militancy.  Speaking on the occasion, PA Mohmand Agency Mehmood Aslam Wazir asked the residents of the bordering villages to return to their hometowns and take part in reconstruction of their houses and hujras (male guest houses).

He also asked the tribal elders to persuade the displaced persons to return to their hometowns. The official said that returning families would be facilitated in their respective areas.He reiterated that security forces and political administration would assist the returning IDPs in reconstruction.
