PMDC dissolved, new elections in 120 days

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) stood dissolved after President Mamnoon promulgated the PMDC Amendment Ordinance 2015 here on Friday.
A new management committee comprising Maj Gen (retd) Azhar Kiyani, Prof Abid Farooqui, Prof Nadeem Rizvi and one representative each from the ministries of law and finance has been constituted.
The committee has been entrusted to hold transparent and fair elections for selection of new members of the PMDC Council.
The new council will be elected within 120 days.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Health Saira Afzal Tarar, along with members of the new management committee, will address a press conference on Monday to share further details about this development.
