PDMA demands 15,000 tents

LAHORE: Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has demanded as many as 15,000 tents from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in order to cater the needs of calamity hit people in case of flood. These tents would be stored in Lahore and Muzaffargarh to the quantity of 10,000 and 5,000 respectively.

This was informed by Chairman Cabinet Committee on Floods and Punjab Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran in a statement on Sunday. Malik Nadeem said that PDMA already has 36,871 numbers of tents in its stock and it has also ordered more 10,000 tents. With the supply of 15,000 tents from the federal government, the total number of tents in bulk would reach at 61,871 which would be enough to tackle any natural calamity like floods and earthquakes.

Kamran said PDMA has recently provided required food hampers, boats, plastic mats, mosquito nets, life jackets and life rings, dewatering pumps and blankets to the district administrations of Sialkot and Narowal when there was flood situation in River Chenab and Nulas of Deg, Aik, Palkhu and Baen in those areas.
