Husband kills wife, police claim murder an ‘honour’ killing
Karachi
With men’s misplaced notions of gender superiority nurtured every time law enforcers fail to penalise culprits guilty of gender-based violence, another young woman’s life was brutally cut short by her husband over a domestic issue, inside their Afghan Basti residence, on Friday.
Police claimed the murder was an incident of ‘honour’ killing. Twenty-five-year-old Zohra was first tortured, and later had her skull smashed with a rock because her husband could not control his anger.
The man, however, fled from the spot.
She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities by officials of the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.
According to police the deceased was a mother of two children and hailed from Afghanistan. The suspect was reported to be a scavenger.
Tortured body found
A decomposing bullet-riddled body of an unidentified man appearing to be 30 years old was found from a drain near the new truck stand, situated within the ambit of the Mauripur police station.
Limbs tied with a rope, the body was according to medico-legal officer of the Civil Hospital at least three days old, and had torture marks on his body; three bullet wounds were found on his chest.
According to police unidentified people first kidnapped the deceased and after killing him at an unknown place dumped his body in their jurisdiction.
A day earlier, two bullet-riddled bodies, appearing to be of the same age group as the man found on Friday, were found from the same area.
