TOBA TEK SINGH: MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has accused the Education Department officials of extorting bribe from teachers for their transfer and posting.
Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Tuesday, he said that August 10 had been fixed for rational transfer of the teachers. Under the rational transfer, each teacher, who would be surplus in a school, would be transferred to another school where there would be less number of teachers at the ratio of one teacher for 40 students, he added. The MPA said that recruitment of the teachers against the vacant posts would also be made in the next four days. He claimed that he along with MPA from PP-86 Chaudhry Amjad Ali Javed and former MPA Sardar Masood Gadhi had met District Coordination Officer Amir Ijaz Akbar on Monday and told him that the Education Department officials had allegedly adopted a suspected procedure for transfer of the teachers just to get bribe from them. He said that the district coordination officer had so far not taken any notice of it. He urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Faisalabad Commissioner Momin Agha to take notice of the alleged malpractice of the Education Department officials and order them to adopt a transparent process for transfer and posting of teachers in government schools of the district. Meanwhile, the Punjab Schools Education secretary removed Education EDO Rao Attiq Ahmad with immediate effect and appointed Syed Waheeduddin on his post on Tuesday. There are allegations of violation of merit regarding transfers and appointments of teachers against Rao Attiq Ahmad.
