YDA demands security in hospitals
LAHORE
The Young Doctors Association has drawn government’s attention towards lack of security in hospitals, which makes them most vulnerable to any kind of violence.
Issuing a statement in the wake of suicide blast in Civil Hospital, Quetta here Monday, YDA, Pakistan General Secretary Dr Salman Kazmi pointed out that every hospital in Pakistan lacked security, saying that there were no walk-through gates, no proper guns and uniform for guards, no metal detectors to check the visitors. Besides, he said, all hospitals have multiple entrances and all doors are open and any one can enter without any checking into any place. “One can daily see vagabonds, beggars, hawkers, street vendors selling items in wards,” he said, adding that these hospitals look more like a railway station or bus stand. Never in the past, he said, a comprehensive plan was made for security of these public places and hence anyone can enter any hospital with guns, ammunition or any weapon. “If these aspects had been considered then no one could have dared to do blast at Civil Hospital, Quetta,” he added. He appealed to the government and Supreme Court to at least order for security of hospitals in the country.
