Security plan: Punjab police have chalked out a security strategy for the forthcoming celebrations of August 14, Independence Day, in the province.
Police have also constituted special teams to control and stop the menace of wheelie and to rescue the runaway children from different areas.
These decisions were taken in a meeting chaired by IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at CPO, Lahore, on Thursday. All police field officers attended the meeting.
The officers in other districts participated in the meeting through video link.
It was decided that no government and private celebrations and activities could be arranged without getting the approval of the district intelligence committee which would comprise the district coordination officer, the DPO and representatives of intelligence agencies in each district.
All vulnerable points, including important government buildings, banks, business centres, public parks, important highways, railway stations and bus terminals, would be divided into three categories, A+, A and B.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of already continued crackdown on wheelie.
Under the instructions of the IGP, the decision of strict legal action would be taken against the mechanics involved in modifying the motorcycles for wheelie purpose.
The IGP also decided to constitute children rescue teams across Punjab to rescue the runaway children and reunite them with their families. These teams will search for the children in the certain areas of big cities like railway stations and shrines.
