Complete Quran & translation to be taught in schools
Islamabad: State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman has announced the complete translation of the entire Holy Quran will be taught to students of Class 6 to Class 12.
The announcement came after some reports surfaced insisting the federal government has excluded jihad related verses from the proposed syllabi for public sector educational institutions.
"It is not possible that some words, ayyahs (verses) or surahs (chapters) of the Holy Quran are not taught (to the schoolchildren). The news of not including some ayyahs/surahs in the translation of Quran are baseless, deceptive, misleading and condemnable," Balighur Rehman said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
The minister said the complete translation of entire Holy Quran would be taught in Class 6 to Class 12.
"In the first five years from Class 6 to Class 10, Makki Surahs which include historic Islamic Waqiyaat (incidents) will be taught, and in the last two years i.e. Class 11 and Class 12, Madni Surahs having Ahkamaat (laws) will be taught," he said. The minister said syllabus of this had been divided into seven phases. "Syllabus of first five phases has been completed, while the syllabus of the next two phases will be completed soon," he said.
