Three killed in unprovoked Indian firing, shelling

SIALKOT: Three Pakistani civilians were martyred on Tuesday and about 11 others injured due to unprovoked firing and shelling by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the Bajwat and Chaprar sectors of the Sialkot Working Boundary. According to official sources, the BSF opened unprovoked fire and shelling on villages Sanghial, Kichhi Maand, Khairi, Looni, Nandpur, Rangpur, Wains, Balot and Loragpur.
As a result of the Indian shelling, Muhammad Asif, 12, of Sanghial and Muhammad Adnan, 22, of Kichhi Maand were martyred and Muhammad Younas, 45, Muhammad Yasir, 25, Sehrish Bano, 23, Bismah Younas, 20, Bano Younas, 15, and other residents of village Kichhi Maand sustained severe injuries. The Injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where Faisal, 9, son of Ikram, from Safrial village also died.
Many cattle were killed and a number of houses and properties of Pakistani villagers were damaged as well. The Chenab Rangers retaliated against the Indian shelling in a befitting manner.
Agencies add: The martyred Pakistani citizens were laid to rest in their native graveyards in border villages Sukhiyaal and Kachhi Maand of Bajwat sector along the Sialkot Working Boundary here in the afternoon.
Aggrieved families and heirs of the Pakistani citizens martyred by Indian mortar shelling, staged anti-India protest demonstrations by placing the dead bodies in their village. They lodged a strong protest against the Indian BSF hostilities in border villages along the Sialkot Working Boundary. They also chanted anti-India slogans there.
They urged the Pakistan government to take up the burning issue of Indian BSF’s mounting hostilities along the Sialkot Working Boundary to the UN and all other international forums.Pakistan on Tuesday condemned the killing of its civilians in the latest unprovoked ceasefire violations by India at the Working Boundary.
Offering condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families, the Foreign Office lodged a protest with India on the ceasefire violations and asked New Delhi to stop such activities and observe the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding for the cause of peace along the LoC and Working Boundary.
Meanwhile, according to an AFP report, “One young man died during the shelling. We are asking residents in the area to remain confined to their homes,” Danesh Rana, inspector general of police in the Indian-controlled part of the region, said.
