Scholars trained into research techniques,creative writing skills
ABBOTTABAD: The MPhil and PhD scholars, young university teachers and other researchers were equipped with research techniques and creative writing skills at a three-day national workshop arranged by the Pakistan Study Centre of the University of Peshawar (UoP) here at the Summer Camp in Baragali.
Titled, “Research Techniques and Creative Writing Skills”, the workshop was aimed at imparting knowledge and techniques to the scholars and researchers. The experts apprised the participants of research techniques, thesis writing, research paper writing, project formulation/execution, exposure to international journals and many other-related concepts.
Dr Syed Minhajul Hassan, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the UoP, inaugurated the workshop.In his welcome address, organiser and Director Pakistan Study Centre Dr Fakhrul Islam said Pakistan Study Centre conducted these activities because the importance and relevance of higher education to the national development cannot be ignored.
He said ensuring quality higher education was one of the most important things we can do for future generations. He said this was possible by building and enhancing the capacity of our human resource.
Dr Syed Minhajul Hassan appreciated the holding of seminar and termed it as need of the hour. He said that Pakistan Study Centre, under the leadership of Dr Fakhrul Islam, has been holding seminars, conferences and workshops on various themes, which is a commendable job.
Dr Himayatullah, a research fellow at the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, dwelt at how to write a research article.Dr Khan Faqir, Chairman, Department of Political Science University of Science and Technology Bannu, talked about the citation and bibliography through software.
Karam Elahi, Additional Collector Pakistan Customs, Government of Pakistan, spoke about effective writing skills Project formulation and execution was explained well by Dr Muhammad Ibrar, Department of Social Work, UoP.
Dr Farmanullah, Department of Pakistan Studies University of Agriculture Peshawar, touched the steps involved in writing quantitative research proposal.Syed Umar Hayat, Director, National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, • Dr Hanif Khalil, Director National Institute of Pakistan Studies Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and Dr Qazi Sultan Mehmood Department of Pakistan Studies Abbottabad University of Science and Technology presided over the working sessions.
Participants came from various universities and research institutions of Quetta, Islamabad, Kohat, Bannu, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Haripur, Battagram and Mansehra
Bacha Khan University Charsadda Vice-Chancellor Dr Fazlur Rahim Marwat was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. He gave away certificates to the participants.
He congratulated Dr Fakhrul Islam on holding a successful seminar.
