Justice Ibrahim Qureshi a non-political personality

MULTAN: The Election Commission of Pakistan new member, Justice Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi (retd), belongs to Multan and he is known as a non-political and impartial man.

Altaf Ibrahim was born in Multan and he got his bachelor’s degree from the University of the Punjab. He did MA History from the Bahauddin Zakariya University, besides graduating in law from the Multan Gilani Law College in 1976. Altaf Ibrahim started his professional career as a lawyer in 1979. He began his high court practice in 1982 and Supreme Court practice in 1997. He continued serving as the LHC judge till March 5, 2015. His chamber is situated on the Multan District Courts premises. He has three sons and one daughter.

Meanwhile, talking to The News, Justice Habibullah Shakir (retd) said that Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi had remained the Punjab Bar Council member in 1999 and 2004. He said that Altaf Ibrahim started his career as a lawyer from lower judiciary and was elevated to the Lahore High Court judge in 2011 when Iftikhar Chaudhry was the chief justice of Pakistan. His father Mushtaq Ahmad Aqil Qureshi was also a lawyer and belonged to the Pakistan Muslim League. However, Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi did not join any political party.

Meanwhile, Multan High Court Bar Association president Sheikh Jamshed Hayat and District Bar Association president Azimul Haq Pirzada congratulated Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi on becoming the ECP member.
