Two drug peddlers arrested

LAHORE

Sadr CIA claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and seized 1.5 kg charas.

The arrested accused were identified as Muhammad Imran and Fraz Syed.

The DIG Investigation announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police team. 

Killed on road: A youth was run over and killed  by a rashly-driven tractor-trolley in the Naseerabad police area on Tuesday.

Victim Faisla, 22, a resident of Model Colony, Walton, was driving his bike when the tractor trolley (QK-7268) hit and killed him on the spot.

Police have arrested the driver, Imran and handed over the body to the deceased’s family.

Found dead: A 45-year-old-man, unidentified so far, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Naulakha police jurisdiction on Tuesday.

Police said the man seemed to have died natural death. However, the body has been removed to morgue to determine the cause of his death. 

plantation drive: Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, Director General Brig (R) Dr Arshad Zia has directed all the districts emergency officers to start tree plantation campaign with the community participation to make environment healthy all over Punjab.

He appreciated the initiative taken by Emergency Services Academy Director General Brig (R) Amir Hamza, who has launched a monsoon tree plantation campaign by planting thousands of saplings in and outside the training institute.

Special Adviser to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmad and SNGPL Managing Director Amjad Latif formally inaugurated the campaign here the other day.

Chairing a meeting at Emergency Services Academy on Tuesday, Amir Hamza directed the rescue officers to take maximum advantage of the monsoon season and plant saplings to improve the environment. 

Rescue 1122 plants thousands of saplings each year under the aegis of Rescue Environment Protection and Improvement Driver (REPAID). 

This season the academy’s officials have planned to plant more than 7,500 saplings with the cooperation of Punjab Forest Department, Parks and Horticulture Authority and FWO. 

condemned: Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies on Tuesday held a meeting to condemn recent wave of brutalities towards innocent Kashmiris in Indian held Kashmir.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the meeting was chaired by CSAS Director Prof Dr Umbreen Javed in which the faculty members of Department of Political Science also participated.

The participants expressed their concern over the alarming situation in Indian occupied Kashmir and condemned the brutalities of Indian forces and the killings of innocent civilians in the occupied valley.

The meeting also criticised the silence of the international community and human rights organisations over the issue.

The meeting resolve to support the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris on political, moral and academic fronts.
