ISLAMABAD: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Tuesday informed the Senate that the new Islamabad International Airport would be fully operationalised by June 2017.
Responding to various supplementary questions during the Question Hour, the minister said around 73.5 percent work had already been completed on the new airport.
The schedule date of completion of all the construction works of the project was December 25, he added.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) had also started work on roads leading to the new airport, he said.
Ahmed said after completion of all the work, six to eight months would be required for testing and operationisation of the airport.
