AI-driven initiative to empower women launched
Rawalpindi: A research team from Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has taken a significant step toward advancing rural empowerment through its ongoing project titled “Enhancing Entrepreneurial Skills in Rural Communities through AI-Integrated Digital Literacy: An Intervention Study.”
The team recently
conducted a field visit to Misriot Village, located near Chakri Road, as
part of its community outreach and data collection phase.
The visit marked the second phase of field engagement, focusing on strengthening connections with local communities,
assessing existing skill
levels, and encouraging digital literacy and entrepreneurship — particularly among rural women and youth.
The project is led by Dr. Adeela Rehman (Principal Investigator), with Dr. Afkar Majeed and Dr. Aamir Arsalan serving as Co-Principal Investigators, and Ms. Maham Waqar as Research Associate.
In collaboration with the Misriot local council office, the team organized an interactive awareness session at the council house, which drew active participation from women of nearby areas.
During the session, the FJWU team introduced the project’s objectives, highlighting how the initiative aims to foster digital inclusion and entrepreneurial capacity-building in rural settings.
The visit also included an exploratory tour of Misriot Dam and the VISCO water purification plant, a locally operated enterprise providing purified water to several areas in Rawalpindi.
The enthusiastic participation of local women and the presence of existing community enterprises demonstrated the region’s readiness for AI-integrated digital and entrepreneurial training.
