Raja Farooq Haider denies being nominated as AJK PM
MUZAFFARABAD: Raja Farooq Haider, PML-N AJK President, denied reports that the newly elected parliamentary party of the Pakistan Muslim League Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has nominated him as AJK prime minister with consensus.
He said the President of PML-N Nawaz Sharif will make decision in this regard. Earlier, a meeting of the newly elected parliamentary committee was held at the residence of Raja Farooq Haider Khan in Muzaffarabad on Sunday. Raja Farooq Haider Khan chaired the meeting which was attended by 30 newly elected PML-N members of the assembly while Barrister Iftikhar Gillani could not attend the meeting due to the illness of his father. The meeting was also attended by the head of the allied party, the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party, Sardar Khalid Ibrahim Khan.
Five resolutions were presented in the meeting in which the people of Held Kashmir were assured that the people of Azad Kashmir would keep supporting their freedom struggle and right to self-determination. They also pledged to continue political and social cooperation with them. In the resolution, the world community was urged to take notice of Indian atrocities in Held Kashmir against Kashmiris.
In another resolution, the meeting ensured complete cooperation after reposing confidence in President PML-N Nawaz Sharif and PML-N AJK President Raja Farooq Haider Khan. Rich tributes were paid to federal ministers Barjees Tahir and Dr Asif Kirmani on the launching of the election campaign of the PML-N in Azad Kashmir with full force. Tributes were also paid to the chief election commissioner, federal government and Pak Army for making effective arrangements for holding one of the most transparent and impartial elections in the history of Azad Kashmir.
During the meeting, the newly elected members of the assembly assured that they would work and play their role in fulfilling the expectations of the masses. The meeting also condemned the murderous attack on Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz in Havaili and expressed grief over the martyrdom of innocent activists of the PML-N and damage to properties during the elections and demanded to bring the culprits to book.
