YDA Mayo Hospital chapter seeks change of top leadership
LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, is in disarray as the Mayo Hospital chapter has called for change of the top leadership for biting the dust on the issue of Central Induction Policy.
“The YDA’s Mayo Hospital chapter is highly disappointed by consecutive failures of central leadership of the YDA Punjab,” said Dr Shehryar Niazi, Chairman, YDA Mayo Hospital chapter, in a statement issued here on Sunday.
He observed that the YDA, Punjab’s central leadership had completely failed in stopping the CIP. He said it had also failed to resolve the issues of 2013 PPSC and ad hoc MOs.
He said it also accepted implementation of biometric attendance without demanding overtime and working hours limit. It also allowed planned privatisation of all government hospitals, adding that it had also allowed empowerment of the medical superintendents to suspend the doctors on spot besides undermining unity in all chapters, one by one and supporting corrupt elements in YDA, especially Bhatta mafias and corruption in inductions and merit, canteen contracts in hospitals and threatening the doctors who try to object to such tyrannical ways.
He said that a new leadership was the need of the hour to manage the tasks. In the presence of current leadership, he said, any movement would result in failure as they were with the health secretary. They took U-turn before the long march and OPD strike call on July 21, he added.
“We demand YDA, Punjab, President Dr Ajmal and central cabinet members, involved in backdoor deals with government, to accept responsibility for all these failures. We demand resignation of all inefficient and corrupt leadership, which inflicted worst damages to the doctors community,” he added.
