PTI’s Tareen, ministers, others got loans written off
ISLAMABAD: A sitting federal minister and senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People’s Party are among those who, being directors or partners of various businesses, got their loans written off,.
This information is a part of the written replies given by Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar to the questions in the Senate during the question-hour asked by PTI’s Muhammad Azam Swati and Nisar Muhammad of the PML-N, placed in the Senate Library and emailed to media persons. These loans were written off by the State-owned and private banks and financial institutions.
PTI Secretary General and noted corporate figure Jehangir Tareen, Haroon Akhtar, Akbar Khan Tareen are among the directors and partners of Superior Textile Mills Ltd, who managed to get Rs247.587 million loan written off, and then again Jehangir Tareen and others ‘availed this facility’ to the tune of Rs100 million with regards to Tandlianwala Sugar Mills.
Former NA Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza and her spouse Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, who also served as Sindh home minister, are also among directors and partners of Mirza Sugar Mills, having gotten Rs370.200 million loans written off.
Federal Minister for Safron Lt-Gen (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch’s name is also included in the directors and partners of Indus Steel Pipes, who got Rs120 million loans written off.
Sadia Younis Mansha and others’ Klass Textile Mills Pvt (Ltd) got loans to the tune of Rs242.533 million written off, Orient Rice Mills Ltd of Salman Lakhani also got Rs261.816 million written off, Spinzer Industries Ltd of Ghulam Muhammad and Saifur Rehman got Rs53.928 million loans written off.
Khalil Jute Mills of Ghulam Dastagir Khan and Ghulam Rabbani Khar and others also ‘availed this facility’ and got Rs405.666 million loans written off, Seri Sugar Mills of Ashraf Tabani got written off loans worth Rs126.905 million and Mir Ahmad Nawaz Jhakrani of Super Rice Mills got Rs97.850 million and Rs72.714 million loans written off.
Rs642.215 million loans of Tawakkal Group of Industries of Abdul Qadir Tawakkal and others were also written off, Brig (r) Hafeez as managing director of USC got Rs338.335 million written off, Ejazul Haq, Arif Zahur and others of Zahur Textile Mills Ltd got Rs94.633 million loans written off.
Rs51.528 million loan of Sadiqabad Textile Mills Ltd was also written off: Sardar Wali Mazari and Mst Shereen Mazari are among directors and partners of the mills and Choti Textile Mills got written off loans to the tune of Rs304.677 million and Rs121.577 million and Sadar Jaffar Leghari is among directors and partners of the mills.
