Residents of Jhanda Chichi Sub Division protested in front of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Superintendent Engineer (SE) Rawalpindi office against long hours of power outages on Friday.
The electricity did not return in the area till the filing of this report.
A large number of protesters and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) exchanged harsh words against each other on the occasion.
Talking to ‘The News’ Alamgir Butt, a protester resident of Gulistan Colony Lane No. 7-A said that they have been facing frequent power outages every day. “We are without light for more than 10 hours on Friday as light disappeared after 12 midnight on Thursday,” he claimed. “Electricity did come for some time but the voltage was low which burnt my refrigerator, air cooler and air conditioner. Now, we are once again without electricity,” he denounced.
Umar Shaheen a government officer resident of Askari-7 said that they have faced power outage of 4-hour on Friday. The concerned authority is not considering the difficulties of public that how they are facing humid weather of monsoon without electricity, he denounced.
Similarly, the residents of Pirwdahi, Rawat, Adiala, Mukha Sing and Sadiqabad are facing long hours of power outages as per routine.
On the other hand, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) blamed a sudden surge in demand for the power breakdowns for a couple of days and appealed to people to reduce consumption.
Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) new appointment Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Jhanda Chichi David Paul said that there was fault in supply line. “We are busy to remove the fault to provide power to consumers as soon as possible,” he claimed.
