‘War on terror to continue till last terrorist is eliminated’
QUETTA: The Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant- General Aamir Riaz, has said that the war on terror will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist. The commander said this while addressing a tribal Jirga in Zhob, which was attended by tribal chiefs and elders from Pashtun and Baloch tribes. Garrison Commander Major-General Abid Lateef and senior military officials were also present on the occasion. Lieutenant-General Riaz was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival at the event in Zhob where he was given a traditional tribal turban by the tribal elders. Addressing the tribal elders, he said that it was the need of the hour to promote harmony and brotherhood and to make joint efforts against the anti-peace elements. The commander said that the tribesmen had always supported the security forces to strengthen the defence of the country at the borders. “We are proud of the tribesmen of Pashtun and Baloch tribes who lost their lives to make the defence of Pakistan stronger,” he said. Lieutenant-General Riaz said that the tribesmen should also play their due role in the war on terror aimed at making Balochistan a peaceful and economically thriving province. He said that the army, security forces and the tribes would continue their role in achieving progress and prosperity in the country. —Online
