The nightmare
This refers to the article, ‘Nightmare in Nice’ (July 18) by Ozer Khalid. The writer has contended that the terrorist attacks in France were due to inadequate social inclusion and integration of Muslims. This may be partially true. Why have similar attacks taken place in Turkey, where the integration issues are different from France? The writer has attributed the motives of the disgruntled citizens who joined left France and joined Isis to attractive remuneration and sex slaves. On the contrary, the individuals involved in terrorist attacks seemed to have different motives from those who left France. Most of them were well settled in France.
Poverty and underprivileged living may not turn the people into killing machines. It has been found that young educated persons with established family backgrounds are more likely to be involved in terrorist acts. Indoctrination and brain washing are the bigger factors behind such carnage.
