CM says railway track to be laid under CPEC

KOHAT: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday said that a railway track from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan would be laid under the multi-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC).

Talking to reporters after condoling with the relatives over the sad demise of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Kohat district president Humayun Chacha, he said that the CPEC would usher in a new era of prosperity and development in the country.

He said Jhand-Kohat road would also be developed under the CPEC project. “CPEC is a project of progress and prosperity for the entire country. All the provinces including that of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would equally benefit from the project,” added the chief minister.

Responding to a question about the repatriation of Afghan refugees, he said the federal government had extended the stay of refugees for six months and hoped that their dignified repatriation would be started after the end of the deadline accordingly.

Answering another question regarding shifting of Oil Refinery from Kohat to Karak, Pervez Khattak maintained that formal decision to this effect had not yet been taken and the Refinery would be set up at a suitable place.

Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser and Minister for Law Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi accompanied the chief minister during the visit.Earlier, they offered fateha for the departed soul of the late party leader.

Pervez Khattak paid glowing tributes to the services of late Humayun Chacha for the party, saying the departed soul was a great asset to the party.Later, the chief minister visited the residence of PTI district leader Aftab Alam Afridi and condoled the death of his mother-in-law.
