PARACHINAR: At least 70 families from North Waziristan comprising some 200 individuals, including women and children, who had sought refuge in the Khost province of Afghanistan in the wake of military operation against militants in the native areas, have returned to Pakistan’s Kurram Agency.
Official sources in the Kurram Agency political administration said the returning families belonged to the North Waziristan Agency. They had sought refuge in the Gurbuz area of Khost province in Afghanistan.
The lack of facilities and other problems across the border forced the displaced tribal families to return to the country through Kharlachi and Shaheedano area alongside the Pak-Afghan boundary in the Kurram Agency, sources said.
“We hope the government would soon allow us to return to our native hometowns since law and order in North Waziristan has improved,” one of the displaced men said. Talking to reporters, they said they would be heading for Bannu from Kurram Agency to be sent back to North Waziristan Agency.
