Post-graduate doctors of PIMS,Polyclinic to be deployed in BHUs, RHCs
Islamabad: Trained post-graduate doctors of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinics will be deployed in existing Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) of Islamabad.
Hardship allowance will be paid to these doctors, in addition to their routine pay and emoluments. Furthermore, the service structure of doctors serving in BHUs and RHCs will be similar to that of doctors working in big hospitals.
A decision to this effect was taken at a progress review meeting on the Prime Minister’s Health Reforms Programme here on Monday. Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who chaired the meeting, sounded determined to implement the programme in true letter and spirit.
The Secretary CADD, chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, and heads of all health institutions in Islamabad participated in the meeting. Dr. Tariq said all necessary resources for the PM’s Health Reform Programme will be provided and directed the heads of health institutions to present a weekly progress on the initiative.
A weekly progress review meeting will henceforth be held in CADD to review progress on the programme. Join Secretary (Health) Aysha Farooq has been appointed focal person of the programme; she will coordinate with different departments on a daily basis to track progress and to present a report to the minister of state for CADD.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad briefed the meeting on the condition of the BHUs and RHCs, and the mechanism for provision of modern health facilities, equipment, and trained staff and qualified doctors in these centres.
Dr. Tariq directed the CDA’s chairman to arrange suitable tracts of land for the establishment of Mother & Child Care Centres in Islamabad. The meeting decided that DC Islamabad will visit Rawat, Bhara Kahu and Sihala RHCs and will present a report to Dr. Tariq for further action.
