Rawalpindi
The Punjab government has given extension to the service of the security guards recruited on the contractual basis in the government schools till December 31, 2016.
According to the written directives issued by Secretary of Higher Education (Punjab) Tahir Yousaf, the security guards who were inducted after rising threats to the schools would continue their job till end of this year on contractual basis.
The principals of all the schools operating in the cities including Rawalpindi have been directed to review the security arrangements and ensure fool-proof security is available in the premises of the schools.
It is pertinent to mention here that the provincial government geared up to beef the security arrangements of schools after the brutal attack on Army Public School in Peshawar. The heads of the schools were directed to raise the boundary walls, hired experienced security guards and to install security cameras. Though the government schools are closed due to the summer vacations but the principals would continue to ensure zig-zag entry into the premises through deployment of concrete barriers, installation of walkthrough gates, use of metal detectors for physical search of the entrants and use of bottom view mirrors for checking of the motor vehicles.
