ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Thursday demanded that the government should declare July 8 as the “Edhi Day” to honor the humanitarian services of the late Abdus Sattar Edhi.
In this regard, the PPPP legislators, Ghulam Rasool Koreja, Syed Mustafa Mehmood, Sardar Ali Gohar Mehar and Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mehar, submitted a resolution to the National Assembly Secretariat.
The resolution said: “The House acknowledges the commendable humanitarian services of Abdus Sattar Edhi, expresses deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of an extraordinary philanthropist and pays him homage for his unparalleled devotion to his cause worldwide.”
“This house is of opinion of that in order to honour the services of the national hero to promote the spirit of humanitarians values in the country, July 8 should be declared as the “Edhi Day” or National Humanitarian Day or National Charity Day nationwide.”
