12 more die due to intense heat, outages in Punjab

LAHORE: At least 12 more people died in different parts of Punjab due to intense heat and long loadshedding hours on Sunday.
Dozens others fell unconscious and were admitted to hospitals, according to reports pouring in from different cities of the province here. Three people each died in Lahore, Haripur and Jhawarian, while one each died in Faisalabad, Narang Mandi and Sarai Alamgir because of intense weather conditions and unannounced loadshedding.
Hundreds of people were admitted to hospitals due to gastro diseases. A 55-year-old unidentified man fell unconscious in the Lohari area of Lahore and was admitted to Mayo Hospital, where he died later on.
One Abbas, 60, in the Ravi Road area, and a 52-year-old unidentified man in the Mozang area also died due to intense heat.In Faisalabad and Jhawarian, four people including a woman died due to harsh weather conditions, coupled with 14-15 hours loadshedding.
One Khalil, a resident of 189-RB, Chak Jhumra, fainted due to heat while working in the fields. He was admitted to Civil Hospital Faisalabad where he died. In Jhawarian, Kot Kamboh’s Allah Bakhsh and Fatima Bibi, and Islampur’s Muhammad Riaz also died due to severe hot weather.
In district Haripur, three people died and dozens of other fell unconscious due to severe heat, intensified by long loadshedding hours. In Gujrat, Sukheki and various other cities people held protest demonstrations against the government over scheduled and unscheduled outages. In Ferozwala, people enraged by over 16 hours loadshedding and tripping attacked the SDO office in Faizpur subdivision and damaged the office record and furniture. The police registered a case against the attackers.
Baba Lal Hussain died due to intense heat in Sarai Alamgir and over 23 fast observers fell unconscious. One Raqia Bibi died due to severe heat in Narang Mandi and dozens of others fell unconscious.
