Danish schools MD sacked

LAHORE

The Punjab government has dismissed Danish Schools Authority Managing Director Col. (R) Ehtesham Anwar from service and handed over additional charge to Tariq Mahmood until further order.

In this regard, Services & General Administration Department has issued notification here Tuesday.

According to the notification, one month salary has been paid to Ehtesham Anwar with his dismissal from the service.

According to the sources, Ehtesham Anwar has been dismissed from service owing to poor performance of Danish Schools. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was not satisfied with the performance of Danish Schools; therefore, he directed Chief Secretary Capt (R) Zahid Saeed to dismiss Ehtehsam Anwar. Following the direction of the CM, the chief secretary dismissed MD Danish Schools Authorities from the service.

UVAS pays tribute to Edhi: University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, on Tuesday arranged a condolence reference for world’s charity icon Abdus Sattar Edhi.

According to a press release, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the reference in which a large number of UVAS employees from various departments participated. They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Edhi. They paid rich tributes to him for his indiscriminate services for the humanity.

Prof Pasha said that Edhi was a great man and a true torchbearer of humanity and philanthropy. He said Edhi was a national hero of the country who devoted his whole life to serve the humanity and the poor. He said Abdus Sattar Edhi not only cared for the welfare of the needy human beings but also made arrangements for the treatment of sick, weak and injured animals and birds.

The vacuum created by his death would hardly be filled, he added. 

Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha also said UVAS would launch a welfare society very soon for the betterment of the needy students and employees.

PU college auditorium:: Punjab University Law College administration has decided in principal to name recently restored old College Auditorium after renowned social worker late Abdus Sattar Edhi.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, a ceremony would be held soon to pay tribute to the unmatched services of Abdus Sattar Edhi to the humanity.

schemes: The Punjab government Tuesday approved two development schemes at an estimated cost of Rs22.596 billion.

These schemes were approved in the 2nd meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2016-17 presided over by the Punjab Chairman P&D Board Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan.

According to spokesman for P&DD, Provincial Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, members of Planning & Development Board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting. 

The approved development schemes included public building sector scheme of Acquisition of Land for Expansion of Punjab Forensic Science Agency Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore at the cost of Rs333.443 million and Health Sector scheme of Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), Punjab at the cost of Rs22.262 billion.

PHA: The Lahore division commissioner on Tuesday visited the under-construction Greater Iqbal Park and directed the PHA to open the park for public on August 14, 2016.

During the visit, the commissioner expressed satisfaction over the pace of work. He said that the citizens would enjoy visiting the park.

He directed the LDA to construct a rainwater drain around the park. He also directed the PHA to accelerate beautification work of the park.

The PHA DG and senior officials of CDGL were also present. Greater Iqbal Park is the modified version of Iqbal Park (Minto Park) and PHA is constructing a history museum and other structures in it.
